SEA Youth Consultation on Breaking Intergenerational Cycles of Violence
Just as natural threads are tightly interwoven into traditional Anyaman textiles, we unite youth movements, survivor advocates, and civil society leaders across Southeast Asia to disrupt cycles of harm and weave a future of dignity and peace.
In Indonesian, Malay, and regional Southeast Asian languages, Anyaman refers to the traditional craft of plaiting and interlacing flexible fibres into intricate, enduring, and functional mats, baskets, and heirlooms. A single reed bends or snaps under pressure; woven together, they create an unbreakable bond.
The ANYAMAN Alliance embodies this philosophy. By connecting youth leaders, survivor movements, and civil society across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam, we weave together our lived experiences, strategies, and resources to break intergenerational cycles of violence against children (VAC) and violence against women (VAW).

Bangkok Consultative Milestones
“Nobody should have to disclose personal experiences of violence or sacrifice anonymity to contribute to this declaration or be afforded due process.”
Co-developed and ratified by consensus during the Bangkok consultation to govern how members collaborate, make decisions, and act across borders.
As young advocates and feminists we stand united in support of one another and diverse movements for justice. We inspire and amplify collective action across Southeast Asia.
We affirm that all human rights are universal, inalienable, indivisible, and interdependent — eliminating discrimination based on gender, sexuality, religion, ability, or background.
Dedicated to transparency, responsible resource stewardship, and integrity with our members, partners, funders, and communities with open reflection and continuous learning.
Feminist movements are transformative when we embrace collaboration across shared experiences and differences, critically examining power and privilege within and beyond our spaces.
We honor everyone’s right to define their identities, relationships, aspirations, and dreams, ensuring access to resources, care, and safe, supportive environments.
Striving for social, environmental, and economic justice rooted in mutual respect. We actively dismantle oppressive systems to ensure resources and power are equitably shared.
on Ending Violence Against Children and Women
Formulated during the Bangkok Consultation by youth advocates from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Calling on national governments, ASEAN bodies, and global ministerial summits for systemic, measurable protection.
“We want to grow up, learn, form relationships and participate in our communities without fear of violence. When we seek help, we expect dignity and protection from further harm. Our knowledge must influence decisions about services, public resources and accountability. Women hold rights in their own capacity, irrespective of their caregiving roles.”
